Welcoming Active, 40+ Singles throughout Bath, Exeter, Taunton, Wells & Mendip, Weston-super-Mare, Yeovil and the surrounding areas
S.P.A. Singles Social Group is a well-established social organisation serving South West England. Our clubs host regular social evenings, local events and annual Group events, such as a Summer Party and a Spring Ball. We celebrated our 40th anniversary in 2019 and continue to acknowledge that the enthusiasm and willingness of our members is key to our ongoing success. Get in touch today to discuss our social group.
Originally known as the Singles Professionals Association (S.P.A.), our group changed its name when members decided that we wanted our name to reflect the inclusivity of our organisation and our mandate:
“To provide a welcoming environment for single active people to meet socially, expand their circle of friends and get more enjoyment out of life by actively participating in our programme of activities and events”.
Our organisation is run by members for members. As a not-for-profit organisation, we invest all membership fees back into our group, contributing to the general management of the whole organisation. Our current membership fee is £30 per year. A team of Volunteer Officers undertake duties associated with the overall management of the organisation, such as:
Additionally, branches are managed autonomously by small volunteer Branch Committees, whose members meet with Officers regularly. Any member of our social organisation is eligible to be elected as an Officer or Branch Committee Member.
You need only come along to one of our social evenings and talk to our friendly members to see the diversity of our group. The background, life experiences, and interests of our membership are as varied as their age groups, which makes for a more exciting and inclusive atmosphere for everyone. We encourage members to catch up with and meet new members at our branch social evenings, as well as actively participating in the monthly programme of activities. You might be surprised by what new activities you discover a taste for. Although it’s not mandatory to organise an event or activity they enjoy, we recommend that members contribute at least one per year, with the full support of our committees.
All six branches produce a monthly programme of activities and events. To ensure all members are kept up to date, the programme of each branch is collated in our monthly newsletter. Members are welcome to participate in any event or activity organised by any branch, unless numbers are limited.
At S.P.A. Singles Social Group, it is our policy to meet and greet all visitors before they are introduced to the members of their local branch. All of our members are single, and we understand it can be difficult to go to events and activities alone. We are always willing to welcome new members and help them feel included.
